Well, i'm finally getting somewhere to completing my Silver Pioneer system.

I had originally though that I could do it within a budget of 100 Pounds but as I looked around , I was drawn by some of the better quality stuff and soon the budget was totally shot.

Taking into account the lack of really decent stuff here in the UK, I believe that i've done quite well.

Here's the line-up:

Pioneer SA-508 (UK varisant of SA-5800) 25wpc Integrated Amp
Pioneer SR-303 Reverb Unit
Pioneer SG-9800 Equaliser
Pioneer CT-F800 3-Head Cassette Deck
Pioneer CT-F900 3-Head Cassette Deck
Pioneer TX-9500 mk.II Tuner
Pioneer PL-L1000 Turntable w/ AT110e MM Cart
Pioneer PD-M550 CD Player
Pioneer DT-510 Audio Timer
Pioneer SE-2 Headphones

So here's the porn...... enjoy :)

Thanks Bolly.....

I'm looking at adding a Reel-Reel to this system. I've seen a nice clean RT-909 on the 'Bay that would be a nice addition to this lot.

I suppose my next real thing is to get a suitable rack as the one I am using at the moment is far from adequate.

The only other thing that I can think of that is missing is the RG-2 Range Expander but then again the R2R comes with a DBX228 so I might not need an RG-2 after all.

Anyway, it certainly is addictive stuff. :boink:

Damn fine system, there, pal! If it sounds HALF as good as it LOOKS,well....Let's just say I don't think you're "sonically-challenged" in any way ! Congrats!! -Sandy G.

I should mention though that the speakers aren't vintage.

They are a relatively new (2002 model IRC) KEF Q15.2 (review here) in Dark Apple (like cherry but slighty darker). They are a 11.5 Litre bookshelf speaker with a dual concentric driver.

I do have a pair of late 70's Wharfedale Dovedales to go with this system but they are so large that they are impractical.

Am glad you finally put your speakers in the pictures. Was about to say that you had the largest and most complex headphone amp I've every seen (first pic)!! Nice rig!

Thanks for the comments. Those phones are also vintage Pioneer SE-2's that I got from eBay for a pound!

They are not upto the standard of my Sennheiser HD580s but they are pretty decent considering their age.

As for headphone amps, my main system (Krell front end / Tube Monoblocks / ProAc Speakers) has a Sugden Headmaster doing duty for the phones. On that system I use HD600s / Sony CD3ks / Grado SR60s and AKG K1000's. I'm a bit of a headphone nut as well and can often be found over at www.head-fi.org using the same nick.
