Here is my homemade speaker designs which give my Son's KEF Q900's a run for their money along with better punch. The KEFs do have good soundstaging and imaging.

Madisound designed crossover I think at 800 and 5K. Pyle driver 12" woofers. 5" Pyle midrange (recently upgraded to 4" Tang Band bamboo midrange). Older Polydax fabric tweeters. Tried poly Peerless by Tiffany tweeters but thought the Polydax had better imaging and clarity so I put them back in.

Tried to keep the voice coils on the same plane.

Solid hickory on the edges and hickory veneer on flat areas. Two layer MDF. Particle board on faceplate.

Tang Band did improve imaging and soundstage but temped to try Faital Pro mid and update woofer since I think it has more impact on vocals than commonly noted.
