Hi Frank,
I'm using a pair to drive myMagnepan 1.6's, I'm very happy with them.
Before these I used a pair of Odyssey Stratos mono's, they were blown away, sold them immediately
The Ncores have much bettter low end control, great sense of space, sound is very neutral and relaxed.

they are too pricey for me to JUST try them out

I think there was a quite recent thread on these Frank. I've never heard a bad thing about them and the kits look really easy to assemble. Being a big fan of my Bel Canto mono blocks I'd love to hear the NC400 mono blocks because they are supposed to be a big step up. If so, they must sound spectacular.

The NC500 modules used in Nord (http://www.nordacoustics.co.uk/) and other designs are supposed to be a big step up from the 400's.
