Why is there NO model # on this unit? It has been in the Family since new and now that I am getting back into vinyl I want to use it and know it. It works pretty well, all works but I want to ID this beauty. It's a Motorola with a Cabinet by Dexter. VERY suprise how LOUD and clear this is and it really thumps for it's age. I think it may be a 1961 I remember my Aunt mentioning that I believe, thanks in advance.20170808_211711.jpg 20170808_211711.jpg 20170808_211856.jpg 20170808_211856.jpg

Finally ID has been done, thanks to Audio Archeology it's a 1961 Motorola Hi Fi in a RARE Drexel Furniture Company Heritage Cabinet.

Very nice unit and extra special that it's a rare cabinet.

I'm confused, where does the SK-77 come in?

Sometimes they hid model numbers for the entire console inside the back on the side walls. Either with a paper label or a stamp. But some never had a number, only the chassis themselves, which had their own numbers. If you have to get schematics always look on the amp or tuner chassis to find their numbers.

Very cool that it's been in the family since new. It might need a stylus by now, and a lube job on the TT workings.

My Owners Manual says SK-77-2
From my research, you actually have a 1963 model SK79-1wh with the custom antique white finish. I own an SK77-2 model. It has the Drexel Declaration cabinet. 1963 is the earliest model year you can have since that is the first year the consoles used the rotary AM/FM tuners. Still, its a great unit with lots of power. Just make sure you replace the electrolytics before too long - you can lose your transformer if the filter capacitor fails. And you'll get even better sound when you update your console's innards.

Happy listening :)

I doubt he or she will be responding anytime soon. Joined and posted this thread on the same date, 2 days later posted again and hasn't been heard from since.
