Need Recommendations / Slim CD player

Hey Gang
My Marantz DV6001 is no longer functional and I am looking to replace it with something else. The Marantz at 60mm (2.3 inches) high fits perfectly in my audio rack between my cassette deck and the top shelf.
Would anybody have a recommendation of a CD player of the same height ? A bonus would be a player < 300. I don’t need a lot of bells and whistles, just something that sounds good.

Old Oppo 980 and 981 come to mind, getting up there in age, though.

There are a lot of parts only 981s on the bay. Are they know to fail?

I had the same issue in my second (dining room) system. I picked up a Sony DVP-NS775v at a thrift shop. Very slim, doesn't look bad (silver face) and sounds pretty decent. It also plays SACD.

I'm using a Sony DVP-NS90V in a similar capacity which also plays SACD and has a full display which many of the thinner DVD and Blu Ray players often lack. Personally, I haven't seen very thin CD Players.

Do a search for rackmount CD players. Tascam, Denon, and others have slim rackmount CD players that sound just fine.
