Some second hand amp help / recommendations please!

Hi all,

I'm a student on quite a tight budget and I'm currently trying to create as good an audio system as possible for as little money as possible.

Yesterday I bought a pair of B&W DM-601 S2 speakers in perfect condition for 70 EUR.

Today I met someone who owns some vintage amplifiers and wants to part with them.

The amps are:
  • Bell PA-2022 - € 60
  • Denon PMA-360 - € 75
  • Denon PMA-530 - € 140
  • ISP SV-3000 - € 50
  • NAD 3130 - € 100
  • Rotel RX-402 + RD-12F deck - € 125 for both
  • Sansui AU-217 - € 80
  • Tensai TA-20045 - € 55

I currently own a Kenwood KA-2050R.

Would any of these amps be worth paying this kind of money for? I.e. would they be an upgrade to the KA-2050R?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Nothing pops out as very special (IMHO) from that list.

Nice speakers though...worthy of a good amp.....and a really good buy for only 70 euro....you did very well!

Try to find some nice (cheap) stands to put them on if you have the room....it will definitely improve the sound.

Where are you located in Europe?

Some good (older models) amps for your speakers: cyrus II + PSX, Yamaha CA-1010, Sony TA-5650, audiolab 8000a, musical fidelity A1, Rotel RA-980, Pioneer A-400(100+ euro) (all amps normally in the 2 a 300 euro region second hand) .... try finding one for cheap.
But maybe more recent amps are a better choice in terms of reliability.

Happy hunting.

Extra: The DM601 S2 was voted product of the year 1999 by What Hi-Fi magazine.

some reviews....so you can check out what amps other people use in combination with the B&W loudspeakers.
