I've just bought a Kenwood integrated(model #KA 9800).This is a European model which apparently is equivalent to the US model designated KA 8300.
I've just got a coupla questions for the Kenwood Gurus out there in AKland;
Am I correct with the equivalence between the 9800 and the
8300?
What was the designation of the rest of that particular production series?(ie 9300,8300,7300 etc) From TOTL downwards.
Does anyone have any comments to make regarding the sound quality(esp the Phono input)?
I will be recieving this unit within a week,I'll post regarding my impressions.

Yep..just a different color faceplate. The 8300 was the TOTL for that year, excluding the limited release of the Model 500 (100WPC) and Model 600 integrateds (130WPC) which were all FET with bipolar outputs.

The others in that year's line-up (1976):

KA-7300 - 65WPC
KA-5500 - 55WPC
KA-3500 - 40WPC

Got it.

First off,
Thanks for the replies,Echo and Bolly.
Secondly there's a post at another group where a poster is giving the preamp section of the KA7300 a rave.Although I purchased mine before reading the post,I now will await arrival of the 9800 with interest.Like I said,I'll keep you posted if I think he;s onto something
