    Hi All,
I've run into a size problem with some caps.
I am (attempting to) recapping an Adcom GFA 5500 for a friend.
The original eight 1000uf/100V electrolytics are shorter than what is generally available currently.
These measure at about 32-33mm mounted and the only modern ones I can find from the main sources; Mouser, Digi-Key & Allied are all 35.5mm tall.
These touch the top cover, whereas the originals have about 2-3mm clearance.

Any ideas on some alternative sources?

    Thanks in advance!
    Brian

Mouser has 11 listings of in stock 1000uf/100v snap in caps that are 30mm or less tall. You didn't specify the diameter but the first listing is 25x25mm the rest are 22mm to 1" in diameter and 30mm tall. You also didn't say what the lead spacing is or could be. These seem to have 10mm spacing for the leads.

    Ah, snap-in!

I was just on the phone with Mouser and I guess we just had tunnel vision for the leaded type.
    I can make snap-ins work, I bet.
Thanks, great idea. I’ll check them out.

Don't forget the trick by crimping and soldering a ring terminal to the leads to make the connection easier for you if needed.
