New KEF Q Series range

what you guys think? Looks like a step above the Coda range... but in a 'similar' price bracket.

I have the Q-95C center speaker.

I'll not overly in love with it, but I suspect it is a positioning issue as well - unfortunately my TV is elevated and consequently the angle of tilt of the center speaker means I suspect the sweet spot for my center is over my head!

Unfortunately there is no option to place it below the TV either.

I haven't seen much of the new series ... still using the Uni-Q drivers I would guess?

yeah... ive heard mixed responses regarding KEF. I recall on AR someone saying that KEF are not true to the music.

others, however, claim they have a very uni-Q sound :)

just wondering what their new models are like...

Well they look the goods aethestically, but that's not important to me (my wife OTOH :p: ) ...

I'm not sure about the tweeter in the middle of the woofer. Sounds fine in theory (no separation of frequencies), but I suspect that if there is any bleed in the xover between drivers then you might find that some of the middle frequencies are cancelling each other out. Of course that's just my guess.

I only bought the Q-95C because tonally it wasn't a bad match for the bookshelves I was buying at the time, and it wasn't OTT in terms of price. But I don't love it.

Well, next week I begin my search for a good quality pair of bookshelfs for 2-channel.

I hope to hear a new Q1 bookshelf. Its nicely priced - half the amount of money that I have allocated to getting the speakers.

I once heard a pair of Paradigm Titans and thought they sounded fabulous for their size and price.

well, i havent heard the titans, but i have heard monitor 5's, 7's, 9's and studio 100's.

I did not like the monitor series at all. I thought the studios sounded quite bright (as opposed to the monitors which were just harsh IMO)
