New lucky, clueless McIntosh owner

Greetings,

I just found this forum and haven't even had a chance to lurk much.

I just inherited some really cool equipment from some friends:

McIntosh C29 Preamp
McIntosh MR78 FM tuner
McIntosh MC2002 Amp

They inherited it from a relative that passed away and got tired of messing with it and were going to throw it away!!! Allegedly it all works.

I have no idea if I can hook this rig up to my little PSB 300i 6 ohm speakers just to see if it works. Is that kosher? What speakers would pair well with this system? I'm not exactly rich so go easy please. Vintage would be preferred.

The units came with no cabinets or rails so I don't know what to do on that front.

At this point I just don't want to mess anything up as these are in good condition. I would like to use the equipment though.

One more thing. What about RCA interconnects?

Thanks - Trent

Hi Trent, I'm no expert but using the 8 ohm taps will work fine.
You sure it's MC2002 not MC202? You need to disclose your speaker budget for a good response, too many options, also your
music preferences would help. You need the best speakers you can afford, $$ IC's later IMO. Ya lucky dawg!
