Hello:
Just thought I'd introduce myself. Had a Mac 2300 while at university (1973 or so), sold it as it was too heavy to move back home, heck, it was too heavy to move period....
Bought a Mac 1700, ended up trading it for a 2105, C28, MR77 and a MCD7005 as well as a pair of ML2's and the 101. plus a lot of cash.
Sold those for a very low price due to "cost overruns" on a car restoration project.
Apparently God took pity on me and let me find, on FB Marketplace, the following ad from a person who does estate sales.
"stereo console - $20." (which had a single bad pic of what looked like a MX110).
I tracked the person down, called and agreed to purchase it. This was on a Saturday evening and about 150 miles away. She told me she wont be there until Tuesday.
I mentioned (lied) that I was going to be by her house either later that evening or early in the morning and could I come by and pay for it? Was told "no, just wait until Tuesday."
Monday night she sent me a text me saying she was offered $250. and could I do better. I told her I didn't want to get into a bidding war - so she said she would accept my offer which was $325.
So.... for $325.00 (plus van rental) I managed to acquire the following:
McIntosh MX 110 Z series.
McIntosh MC 240.
Empire 208 Turntable with a Empire 108 Cartridge.
Viking 86 Reel to Reel Deck.
All manuals and "paperwork" and all in Excellent condition, all lettering intact, chrome beautiful, etc.
And..... all purchased at the same time by the original owner.
On the way home I stopped by another person who ran an ad for a single Bozak 302 - picked that up for $60. in excellent condition, which will be paired with my Telefunken Opus 7 in my Vintage German Garage.
To complete the Home Vintage System I'd like to find a pair of Wharfedale W3's.
Thanks and Kind Regards,
Ron
