Hello everyone I am a new album user and I am curious about a few things. I do not want to "" use people on the site I'm actually looking to learn about repairing older stereo equipment. I have a decent amount of knowledge as far as electronics go and am looking to further my knowledge and it seems as though this site could be a good place to do it. Are there any places where you can learn more about this kind of stuff without going to school or spending a ton of money. Thank you for any advice!

    First, welcome to AK!

Honestly, a basic electronics class at a local community college would be a huge help, but if you're the patient type, we have a slew of friendly, experienced repairmen here who are kind enough to give solid, hard-won advice.

While I don't have the skills to do it, I've seen many folk like you over the last 13 years that started out barely able to solder, that now can rebuild most anything.

It's all here, just gotta get in there and learn it! Good luck!

    Welcome to AK!

Using the search function here is my #1 way to answer my questions and learn how to (and how not to) do things with vintage stereo gear.

I have also learned a lot from searching on YouTube (e.g. how to solder and desolder properly). The videos add a dimension (showing you how to do something) that can sometimes be ellusive in text-only formats.

There are also quite a few "sticky" posts in the various forums here that you might want to read.

A few beginner threads are also helpful:

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions! When you ask a question, many of us learn from the answers, too.
