I might skip the long drive and wait for the nyc meet. Any local in NJ planned around Bergen county or with 40 minute drive from there?

I wasn’t able to make the April meet ‘cause my ride bailed at the last minute. Anything near MTA or Jersey transit is always a plus for me.

Perhaps some of the north Jersey members could look into local VFW halls and Churches with hall space? Might be able to make it a North Jersey get together. I would be willing to do the same for Long Island if there is interest.

I am guessing it is probably the right time to set up a gathering for a winter or early spring swap n shop and listening session. I have a nearby Pizza/Italian restaurant which is quite happy to reserve their restaurant section, which fits about 15-20 tables, for a non-agreed upon price. However, the logistics might get in the way. Let me please explain...

The room is not large and some AKers do like to hear their tunes loud. Load-in and load out is not that easy. There is ground level access, but it's across the parking lot/driveway. I do not know if they are amenable to open early on a Saturday or Sunday. Friday night is also not out of the question, but the restaurant can get busy nighttime. Perhaps, the best feature about this place is that the (50 mile drive) NYC bus stops nearby.

So, for our needs, this is the type of venue desired. Close to "mass transit" with easy parking and load-in is needed. Last I checked, the round trip bus ride costs about $35. from the NYC Port Authority. That is not inexpensive; I know. Most importantly, room size is not large and there are no room dividers.

What I suggest is that other folks investigate possible locations within the few states nearby. Talk to your local pizza place and non-busy restaurant owners, please. Easy access is important for the collectors wishing to bring in lots of stuff.

The next huge obstacle is getting more than us AKers involved. We need the younger generation, or this hobby/obsession is doomed. HiFi is alive in the headphone world, in a big way ! Maybe, getting the Headfi.org and other headphone sites' "can" folks involved will be very helpful for spreading the word...Technical schools and colleges might be helpful, especially if the event can be considered educational. Certainly, we can arrange educational forums and presentations...
