Sorry for the confusion, yes the fixed balanced outs of D1100 still have to be connected to the C1100 when the custom CONTROL cable is connected between the two..

Hey Ron, you seem to be very knowledgeable with Mac products. I recently bought he MC302 and now I'm looking to get a preamp. All of my music at this point is either through a CD player and a Heos link using Spotify or Pandora. I doubt if i'll ever go back to vinyl. Not sure if I should look at the C52 or go with the D1100.
