Now these might do it...

Never heard of them but looks nice. There are so many different Altecs out there MikE

It's the home version of the 9844 studio monitor. The monitor was produced up until the late 70's and was very common as a surround speaker in movie theatres. You can find them faily frequently on Ebay as older theatres are being torn down.

A buddy of mine has a pair of those, they sound very nice, you know, like big Altecs. Got them for $300 in a hi-fi store about 25 years ago, some goon had traded them in on ADSs or something like that. No doubt the ADSs are long gone but the Altecs are still cookin'.

Well actually you might be suprised. I have a pair of 1972 West German Brauns that the ADS line copied and even imported drivers from Braun for thier line of speakers. My Brauns are still going very strong and are some of the best, well built speakers I have ever come accross. (leave it to those Germans) The ADS line was built in their image and those are out there "still cookin" too... :)
