Only 2channel Audio on Apple TV w/ Amazon Prime

Is it true that the audio on Amazon Prime is only available in two channel stereo and not in any HT formats?

Thanks

Eric

I can't speak to the Apple TV aspect, but I can say with certainty that at least some devices are able to get discrete surround from Amazon Prime.

Source in this case is a Panasonic Blu ray player, playing a movie on the player's Amazon app. The screen shots are of my processor showing Dolby Digital 5.1 decoding and the input format being 5.1. (note the processor display shows DVD simply because that is the default name of the input I'm using for the Blu ray player, and have not renamed it).

Again, not familiar with Apple TV but if there are settings for the digital output type be sure it is set to Bitstream, not PCM.

By the way I take optical out to my Sony ES receiver.

All other services ( HBO, Netflix, Showtime and even ESPN) are in surround.

I don’t think there is an audio setting within the Amazon app.

Thanks

Eric

Yeah, with the older processor not having HDMI I too am using optical from the Blu ray player.

For the PCM/Bitstream setting I meant in the Apple TV gadget. But, if you are getting discrete surround from other app playback via Apple TV it's probably not that.
