Option on Marantz 510m

Hi Friends,

On the never ending quest for better sound....

I have an option on a Marantz 510m in good condition. Price is workable.

I currently run a pair of B&W 683 through a Sansui BA 3000 or a McIntosh MC 7200 and am happy with both of them.

How would this amp compare to the above in :

1. Sound Character
2. Ease of Repair / Recap
3. Collectible value.
4. Will it have more grunt than either of those two amps?

It will be playing through the Sansui CA 3000 preamp for the time being till i get hold of a Marantz 3600 or 3800 to pair with it.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

What do you feel you are missing with your current set up?... if it was me, I would upgrade speakers first

The 510M has been on my bucket list for years.
Finally pulled the trigger on audiobeer's.
High collectable value
Loads of power
Fairly easy to work on
Plus it has those Marantz meters!

Will it reliably drive difficult 2 ohms speakers like the 7200 can?
(I have a 7200 driving my IRS Betas)
Probably not but there are a lot of other speaker pairings that it wiill be fine with.

Bob, have you found time to pull yourself away from the bench and actually listen to the 510M yet? Wish you lived next door!
