continuing this project, since im mostly settled on amplifier topology, now to start on the next hassle. Power level indicators. since the LM3915/16 have been axed and the 3914 is useless for audio (believe me ive tried) and the handful i've gotten from ebay only 1 worked as it should. i'll have to somehow design a new circuit that behaves just like a purpose built IC. how to do it, i dont know. op amps? comparators? discrete transistors? custom code on a microcontroller?
2nd part, clipping indicator. on paper sounds simple. but of course i want to it trigger right as the output clips and not a few volts before clipping, as some of the designs i breadboarded up did. but like the level meter, not really sure how to make a proper circuit for that. Maybe copy it from a big name amp like a peavey, JBL or crown from the pro audio world. will probably have to have an IC or 2 of some sort, but thats fine as cost isnt a concern for this
if i realize i've forgotten anything ill update or post below.
