I picked up a pair today for 15 eur as the surrounds were shot and there is some damage on the speakers.

I was really surprised about the quality of the filter and the cabinet. Really nice mid woofer in its own case, nice magnets on the woofers. They weigh 19.5 kg each. Nice thick cable used as well. Philips made so much crap we forget about the good stuff

Pics say it all, but if anyone has a tip how to get the plastic veneer back on? I was thinking about ironing it (with a cloth in between)

Nice deal! Replace those surrounds and get some contact cement for the loose vinyl.

Thanks for the tip! One annoying thing is they "fixed" one surround but sticked it on the top instead of bottom but i cant get it off cleanly. I will have 3 rubber and one other surround which i dont like...

I do actually! They have great mid drivers with a double magnet and superb tweeters. The low is sharp and accurate great for music. Compared to my canton ct 2000 they dont go as low but not too many speakers go as low as the cantons anyway. Great speakers overall, not tiring or colored, you dont get easily bored by them

They are also made from a stiffer material. Great drivers and crossovers, they are also really heavy speakers...nice! 20180113_231913.jpg 20180113_231935.jpg

That's one heck of a mid. They must be crossed in at a fairly low frequency to require that much heft.

The second magnet is a bucking magnet for shielding purposes. Those speakers are from the tube TV days, when magnetic picture interference was a thing.

Oh cool nice to know! The other drivers have single magnets so no shielding there. The mids are quite prominent though but overall great speakers in the sub 200usd range, a spray over is also fairly easy and makes them look as good as they sound!
