Picked up a non-working Fisher 500C

You're just starting. You want allure, try 9 or 10 (depending on whether you count the 1959 560 companion as a separate console) on the main floor of a 1100 sqft Rancher. That's not including the Magnavox Chairside set in the bdrm as bedside tables.
Here's the List
1951 Coronet (WR-11)
1958 Contemporary (C-800)
1959 510/610 consolette (Series 510/610 I have both the 510 and 610 control heads. The 610 head has been upgraded for MPX)
1959 560 Companion (for the 510/610)
1960 Coronet C-55 (cabinet for re-population of gear)
1963 Executive VIII (Model 950)
1964 Custom Electra VII(2 right now)(E-49)
1965 Custom Electra VIII(E-490)
1965 Futura VI (F-590)
1969 Royal Electra (Cabinet to be re-populated with gear)(R-494)

And it doesn't include an 800c, 2-400's, KM-60, and an X-101-B sprinkled around.

There's the BAR. All you have to do is meet or exceed it. LOL.:D:D

Resistor came in today and I am going to try to get to it tonight.

I had planned on bringing it up on a variac with a meter in line to watch current draw. What current should I expect at 120v? About 1.5?

With all controls centered and volume at minimum, AUX and NO SOURCE CONNECTED. About 1.8A @ 117VAC

1.4 amp @ 120v.

V8, v9, v10, v11 putting out some heat.

Heard a slight crackle from one of the speakers on warm up.

What do you think?

Update: The tuner works great, even with a crappy little antenna. The phono works and the aux works with CD or iPod. After playing on the sacrificial speakers for an hour or two I hooked it up to something much nicer and wow! It is wonderful.

I've been looking at various threads in the Fisher forum and am suffering from information overload. As for my next step, I was thinking about the Metabone restore kit and order the on off switch at the same time. What do you guys think?

Good work! That is incentive for me to work on my junkyard husk of a 500B. I've got to do a KM-60 tuner first though.

Tim; You've been procrastinating on that KM-60 for the last year now. Like I have with the 400 on the bench since Feb. :p:D

Larry,
Any thoughts on the Metabone restore kit? I read your summary and this seems like the right direction for me.
