Does this look complete and original to you guys? One owner, and I've even got the original receipts and literature. I was told it is not currently functioning, but they couldn't tell me what the issue is. Unfortunately, the lady running the sale told me she plugged it in........it made some sort of rumbling sound.....ugh. :(

Many of these units were used in custom installations. They were built into cabinets and such. Units from these cabinets are usually in excellent cosmetic shape.

Bugle Boy tubes (Mullard)-nice. Good physical shape. I'd grab it and fix it up if the price is halfway reasonable. Power trans may be 'rumbling` if the electrolytics are bad.

Yes, it's already mine. Even with it not being plug and play, it was a no-brainer at $25 bucks.

Now I just need to find someone that can run some tests for me.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. My comment was a poor attempt at congratulations to you for finding such a fine piece in excellent condition for little money. Once it’s sorted out you will be very pleased.

It's alright, thanks.

Thanks Dave. Can you tell me how you identified the type of tube? If it wasn't obvious, I don't know the first thing about tube technology.

I believe @Dave451 was referring to the "Bugle Boy", which is synonymous with the Amperex brand, as seen in this pic.

Here's some clearer images of the "Bugle Boy" from my personal stash, note the different styles.

Absolutely do not plug it in at this point after what the lady at the sale did you could potentially damage it. Check you local audio repair shops and see if they have experience with tube gear.

Where are you located on Planet Earth? There may be a known tube guru near you.

That was in fact a steal. Usually estate sales companies are more savvy than that. That thing is clean as a whistle!
