Pioneer Black Face Receivers - post your info!

I have the original sales receipt for my 5580. Shows a list price of $700 and a selling price of ...are you sitting down?...$350 through the AAFES, military sales. I gotta find that chunk of paper cause the manual is right next to it.

That is an excellent price, for sure.

The prices I show are (in USD):

Code:
SX-535	300	SX-5530	192
SX-737	400	SX-7730	261
SX-939	500	SX-9930	366

SX-750	400	SX-5560	?
SX-950	600	SX-5570	?
SX-1050	700	SX-5580	350
SX-1250	900	SX-5590	?

Doc

I just picked one up at my local thrift.
It's a SX-9930 serial number VG1190353U.

And thanks for the detective work and the history lesson, Doc.

Pioneer Twins

I just picked up an SX-7730, and BlueShadow alerted me to this thread.

S/N: VB1100031T, no code sticker.

I have both the 737 and 7730, they're both beautiful, probably among the best looking receivers ever, imho!

I wonder would the 7730 look with the blue dial and meters of the 737 be an improvement?

I have a 5590 that shuts off all sound after about 2 minutes. Any ideas or where to get parts? SN WI2601473W. THANKS!

There are lots of parts available for this unit in most any nicely stocked electronics parts store worldwide.

If all you need is parts try Mouser or digikey. They get the most talk on the boards for repair parts. Some of the sponsors listed at the bottom of the page have stuff, too.

Probably should have started a new thread with this new discussion. Not to late to do it.

Thanks to all for their comments, and to those who supplied their numbers.

Here is the latest and up to date table.

Hmmmm, all 5530/7730/9930 still appear to have been made in 1975, and all 5560/5570/5580/5590 appear to have been made in 1976.

Thanks to Doc for shedding light on all things Pioneer. He has added immensely to my enjoyment of vintage Pioneer gear. He is the Pioneer Guru.

Bought in the Heidelberg, Germany Post Exchange (PX) in 1975

Brochure was printed in Japan....

Kinda an embarrassing question:stupid: but I can't find the serial number or export code on my SX-5590. It's not on the back, side or inside the unit?
Can someone please post a pic of where they are located and what it looks like?
I think it does have a voltage selector in the back though...
AC 110/120/220/240 volts
50/60 Hz 1200 watts

Thanks

Under the speaker connections there should be a serial number on silver or white and the export code should be there, too. Check the last picture on this page, just above the ac outlets.

I checked again but there's no ser # or ex code. If it was on a sticker then I take it a previous owners must of taken it off. Maybe the 5590 was used to murder someone and the ser# was filed off like they do with guns used in shootings.lol just joking

Yea sorry guys but I cant give my info due to there is no info to give.

I bought my BlackSilver SX5570 from CL for $200 this past Saturday.
The serial no. is xg26024165, t for origin, worldwide voltage selector and a passed sticker.

I noticed all the serial nos. in the database show none newer than a 1976 year of manufacture for all models. My serial no. shows a date of July 1977 if i am reading it right, making it the newest.:scratch2:
