Pioneer CT-F750 help needed

Hello, have a CT-F750 that does not work. All the lights and buttons function fine but the fw, rw, and play do not. I thought maybe the belts needed to be changed out so I opened it up. When I turned it on to see which belt(s) were slipping I noticed nothing was turning, not even a hum of the motor. Lights all lit up but no other movement in the unit.

This is my first tape deck I am trying to get working as I have the amplifier, tuner, and TT that pair with it.

Would anyone be able to tell me if I am just out of luck or if there is something I should look into when it seems like the motor is not spinning any of the gears.

Thank you...

Check the tape presence sensor switch (detects presence of cassette shell in the transport).

Good luck,

Got the belts in today from vintage electronics. I am posting a picture of the old belts with what I think are their matches of new belts. The belts were all in one bag. Does not t look like I got it. What would you change. I will start putting 5 and 6 back now so I remember how to put it back together. I took lots of pictures but don’t want to take any chances. Lol. Thanks all.

Hi all, got the belts swapped out and everything put back minus the cover. Popped in a tape and FF and RW seem to work at proper speeds. Play seems to run about 3 to 5 percent slower than it should. Figured a belt is too tight or not enough power from the motor. I did try four different tapes I have played recently and they worked fine.

Might the belts need to stretch for a little while? Is there such a thing as breaking a belt in? I hate to try and stretch one out and possible ruin it. I believe it is one of two belts which of course require taking the unit part and dismantling it to access them and stretch them a little. I am very excited that the unit is working again. Hoping to get it in just a little better shape to be able to use it now.

So it seems I just needed to tweak the screw on the back of the motor to correct the speed. Thank you to all that helped me pointed me in the correct direction. Unit is put back together and verging very next note. Now to correct the extra noise on the turntable and clean up the digital timer and we will be good to go.

Congratulations on your progress. I had an F650 a few years ago that partially worked. I found a new home for it with a guy who knew how to restore them. It is good to know of another of that vintage is being rejuvenated!
