I picked up one of these yesterday in superb condition with one exception. When it is in quartz lock it performs perfectly but when I switch that off to play with the pitch it spins backwards for a second then the motor takes off and if she had a set of wings man I know she would fly. Is there something really wrong or a simple adjustment/cleaning as the adjustment knob makes no change in the speed at all. Even with the problem I am very happy with it so far and will replace the cartridge and make it the main TT.

You all missed the opportunity to tell me to clean the switch. Well I did and it now is kicking out some motown perfectly. This is one sweet TT very smooth operation and little or no problems with set up. The original pioneer needle still sounds good but I think I will spring for a new cart to see what it can really do.

I have a PL-540, with a broken arm rest-thingie, but is a beautiful table.
Glad to read that yours is working OK, now.
