Pioneer SA-8500 II - 220/240 volts

I bought this unit on auction and didnt realize it wasnt a 110 volt unit

I plugged in a 110 volt computer,etc cord and powers up ... and plays music

I am wondering if this is giving it half the power...

Also, does anyone know if you can change internal transformers to convert to 110 volts

It may be OK if you arent running it too hard - but that depends on factors including your speaker sensitivity.

Go to hifiengine.com, register and download the service manual to ensure that there isnt a voltage adjuster inside the amp - its usually on the back panel with these amps I think - but not familiar with this model.
