Does anyone got a substitute for the 667-ECQ-V1H224JL on the power amp board? Its no more available.
Its a polyester stacked film capacitor 0.22µF 50V, just use another brand like kemet or Wima...
Thanks a lot for your answer!
In the photo attached there I think I can see the zener diodes 17 + 18V (yellow circle), but the zener (red circle) should actually be next to this, or am I wrong?
As far as I can tell, it is next to it?
What are you trying to work out?
The 2 diodes supposed to be the Zeners and they soldered in next to the Zener
It's a service letter mod requiring the single 32v zener to be replaced with two. A 17v and a 18v.
From a MTF post:
Here is a link that has information in Audiokarma:
I hope these parts numbers from US supplier mouser.com help you find suitable replacements in your area.
these are just for the factory SX-1980
These are all the diodes, both the original part number, and a replacement with identical specifications:
D210 wz-240 >> 512-1N5252B Fairchild 24 V, 0.5W Zener diode 5 percent $0.06
D211 wz-240 >> 512-1N5252B Fairchild 24 V, 0.5W Zener diode 5 percent $0.06
D213 EQA01-35R 35 volt 5 percent 0.5 watt zener diode. replace with two diodes:
D213 >> (#1 of 2) 512-1N5247B Fairchild 17 V, 0.5W Zener diode 5 percent $0.06
D213 >> (#2 of 2) 512-1N5248B Fairchild 18 V, 0.5W Zener diode 5 percent $0.06
D213 >> (#1 of 2) 512-1N4744A Fairchild 15 V, 1W Zener diode 5 percent $0.08
D213 >> (#2 of 2) 512-1N4747A Fairchild 20 V, 1W Zener diode 5 percent $0.08
I'm not sure what EchoWars recommendation is... the 0.5w vs 1w isn't clear
and I didn't find 17v 1w zeners either... so 20+15 is closest
D215 1S2473 >> 512-1N4148 Fairchild Diodes - Small Signal 100V Io/200mA $0.03
EDIT: YIKES THE PICTURE IS BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE ZENER STRING IS IN THE WRONG, D215 POSITION!!!
YELLOW circle should show D215 1s2473 (reverse polarity protection during shutdown / powerup IIRC) to 512-1n4148(iirc?)
RED circle D213 originally eqa 01-35R a 35v 1/2 watt zener diode
FACTORY CHANGED D213 from 1/2 watt 35v zener to a series string of a 17v and a 18v 1/2 watt zener.
35v zeners were pushing the technology at that time, and the replacement pairing of the 17 and 18 are
quieter and more stable even today - if you can FIND a 35v zener.
If in my yellow circle the diode is the 215 why is there 2 soldered together.
Im confused, sorry if I don’t get it
D210 and 211 anyway go out due to the cs
The Service Letter has been complied with.
Mark explained it in his post above.
Where did that picture come from (rhetorical question)?
Now I gotta weed out my pictures...
...... and... I can't find a bad one (yet)
I could be. I still have a 1980 with a bad board
Me , just in case...
Sorry for the late reply.
The picture is from:
But I´m pretty sure the diodes are wrong (in the negative regulator at least)
P.S. its even written underneath I saw now sorry
A little update:
- I bought in eBay the power supply board from Mark it works perfect
- I recaped the 059 board
The Monster is playing, sounds awesome
Now I saw in another restoration that there were different parts used, like fine gold caps etc.
Is there a newer list of the recap, does it make sense to use fine gold?
I also saw some coupling caps been changed. Does anyone got informations what to use?
