Just got a real clean Pioneer SX-626, love the sound! Use one in the shop for background music testing or what ever need be at the time. A quick look over and this unit seems to have had very little use.

Those Pioneer receivers had strange speaker plugs.....sometimes find them on Ebay

Nice find Pat. Looks like that one was hidden in a cupboard or something.
Not even a trace of tarnish on the connectors !
    Definitely a keeper.
    Nice

I got a chance to work on the power supply board:

    4 Nichicon PW's
    2 New transistors
2 Soft recovery diodes as an upgrade

    Amp board done:
Used Nichicon KG's for the couplers
    Added film upgrades
The balance of caps are Nichicon PW and a set of Silmic II.
This unit is in very nice shape and the trimmers were easy to dial in, but knowing they are prone to failure I added Bournes trimmers.

Up next is the phono board:
    Silmic II
    Silmic bipolar
    AMRG resistors
    Sonicap Gen II's
The phono section sounds really sweet!

'Looks like another very nice job with the rebuild, Pat.

I continue to enjoy the cap-coupled goodness of the rebuilt Harman Kardon 330B that you sold me. A bonus is a smaller footprint, so the 330B can fit in just about anywhere.

I'm curious. What about the SX-626 - does it have a petite figure also? (The 330B is only 15.75" wide). Thanks.

    This is a full size receiver, approx. 18" wide X 14" deep X 5 1/2 high

Thanks for posting this. I have one of these (not as pretty) and I need to update it, this thread will be a reference for the project.

Thank you for providing the dimensions. The 626 looks to be slightly smaller than the 727/828 receivers - one inch less in width and a half inch less in height.

Here is a shot of the power cap.
I used a Mundorf 4 pole, it really cuts down on electronic hash/artifacts in the high end, makes the background black. IMG_4247.jpg
