Pioneer SX-790???

All I've ever seen is the SX-690, 790 and my 890. Wonder if there is a 590 out there somewhere?

sx-790

I have a 790. The black faceplate is very cool to look at at night. I've heard that the x90"s are Canadian or Euro versions of the x80's. Not sure about that but I do like mine.

780s

I have sold and owned hundreds of 780s. I was always told that the 790 was a later version made for the mid-east region but who knows. . . There were studies floating around on this forum speaking to the history of this series (XX80) Pioneer.

A search might find it. . . I know of at least three versions of the 780. Made in Japan/ Korea / Malaysia(sp) . . . made for different markets, Euro/ USA etc. . .

My grandma has a 590, so they exist. I like my 535 better however, it has two tape monitors :)

From around the same time frame, I have a TX-608 tuner, the black dial version of the TX-6800. It has all the proper settings on the back (power, FM deemphasis) to be an international model -- Foe

The 790 was out at the same time the 780 was; the service manual covers both models. Sometimes catalog showroom chains carried Pioneer models that were slightly different cosmetically than the mainstream offerings. Not an uncommon practice in consumer electronics at all...

The SX-890 was the biggest. SX-990, SX-1090, SX-1290 and SX-1990 don´t exsist. ( in 1973 there was a SX-990 :) ).
But there was already one post about that kind of Dial.
