I purchased a nice SX-828 last year, all I did was change the old bulbs to led's. Sounded wonderful when I put it up, as good or better than any Sansui & Marantz in that amp range. I went to hook it up today and there was no sound on A, B or C channel. Tried FM and aux, but no sound, all lights function perfect. Any idea what might be wrong?

    Thanks!!!

You might want to check and see if your Tape Monitor switch got switched on.

relay clicking in is a good sign . does the tuner part appear to receive signals ?

Yes, the tuner is picking up stations, just no sound.

If you haven't used it in a while, a dirty switch or control could be an issue. If at least try exercising all of the buttons and controls to see if the sound comes back. Probably unlikely since it's affecting both channels, but worth a quick second to check.

OK, had to find my phono to mini (or whatever) adaptor, but headphones don't work either. berkcom, all of the switches got plenty exercise lol, besides it hasn't been sitting up but 6 months and had a really good deoxit before. This receiver was working like a champ before I unplugged it. Out of the 10 receivers I have, this is my favorite looking and amongst the best sounding. I hope it's nothing serious

OK, that will take a minute. I'll have to get out the Fluke and then find the af board. Would I find it with the top cover off or bottom cover?

i have a hunch about corrosion on fuses . mainly the ones to the amp boards . try pulling them and putting them back . or carefully moving the fuse slightly with a wooded stick whilst powered up . keep vol pretty low if doing this .

The only fuses that I can see (besides the A/C fuse on the back panel) are on the bottom. They have a clear plastic wrap around each fuse and appeared to be soldered in. Would these be he ones you're talking about?

well thats not it. thats close enough. i just am finishing up an 828 its running on my bench. ive got it hooked up to some head phones (no speaker plugs yet). i just went out its playing an fm station reasonably loud and on both pre- out jumpers to ground i get about 40-60 mv ac to ground if you have a whole lot less than that say about 1-2 mv ac your problem is upstream in the af board or what controls it. all the toggles are in the up position yes?
