Pioneer SX626, SX600 or Sansui 1000x? Best Choice?

I am going to check out these 3 units tonight being sold locally. Sellers description/prices are as follows.

Pioneer SX626- Great condition, little scratchy, needs de-oxit. $30

SX6000- Small crack in top near vent plate, missing 1 of the push buttons, sounds & works great. $60

Sansui 1000x "solid state model" made between 73-75. Probably his fav of the 3, great cond. $50

I'm leaning toward the Sui or 626, due to the better condition. Have read good things on AK about the 626, but can't find anything on the Sui 1000? Is the model correct?
I currently have a Yammie CA-810 running with a Kenwood KT-5300 tuner. I'd like to change out the Kenwood with either SX626 or Sui. The wood look would match my Yammie and Dual TT better than the black plastic on the Kenwood. I've also seen where you can connect the Yammie to either of these units w/ the "pre-out/main-in" connections? Yes/no? Thanks for any help/opinions! :D

Sorry for the pic quality, had to grab them from CL

I would think they are all pretty similar. For the price I would go with the sx626.Probably the best looking of the bunch.

The Pioneer SX 626 is very tubey sounding. Very nicely made unit and reliable. Does have coupling caps. The Sansui is superb in it's own right. I would go for the Sansui if all is well with it. The Pioneer SX 626 is also worth having.

Considering the prices, I would go with the SX-626, hands down. The 600 is from Pioneer's early SS days. The Sansui is nice, but lower powered and probably not worth more than the SX-626.

The 1000x is a 35 watt per channel unit so not much difference tot he 40 watt Pioneer 626. I have two of the 1000x and they work great for a small'ish room. I use them with both EPI and Genesis speakers with success and actually took one of them with a pair of Genesis Model 10 and HPM 40's to an off-location party and it drove them all just fine.

Appearance-wise, I have lots of receivers [some of note in the signature but at the moment I have nine Marantz receivers alone] and I quite like the 1000x ...I think its the toggles that I go for. It is a very trouble-free model with nice sound.

Once you are there, take the unit that YOU like the best.... I don't think that you will go wrong with either of the 1000x or the 626.

Good luck.

I went with the Sui. It was the cleanest looking of the 3 units. The 626 did have a missing push button & the SX6000 had the odd style speaker connections. We plugged in the Sui and hooked up some Fishers to it. Lights worked as well as all switches. Plugged in to the A&B speaker connections & worked fine. A little scratchy w/ the volume & balance knobs, but not bad really. I will give it a good cleaning before putting it to work. I have EPI 100's on the way!

This guy had about 10 sets of speakers along with a good 15-20 amps & receivers in his garage for sale! In his "sound room" his main unit was a nice Sansui 9090, stacked Advents, Yamaha NS?, Cerwin Vega DX's and some nice Pioneers. I told him he needs to join AK! So, Rich, if you are reading this, thanks again for the sound trip!:D
