Pioneer TX-9500

Working on a "new" TX-9500 tuner (plain and not the II version) now and was wondering if anyone has one or has had good/bad experience with this model. This one will need the stereo light (as usual in the other TXs I've had) but is otherwise in good shape. Comments?

I just got a "second chance" offer to buy this modded TX-9500 for his $340 reserve. Been recapped, and also aligned by Terry Dewick, and close enough I could drive down and get it. Problem is, the price is more than I have on hand; I bid more than I could afford already, truth be told -- Foe

The 4 ceramic filters look to be Murata, but my eye sight is going and reading the values on the back side is a bitch. Replacements may be in order.

I have a couple of these TX-9500s and they are one of the best DX-ing tuners that I've ever used.

Change out the LED, that is one of Pioneers best efforts for tuners, IMHO the "II" designation was just a prelude to the BPC era.

Hope you didn't bite on the overpriced 9500. There's plenty of good base stock out there and, unless you're wanting to set it up for dx'n or the like (waste of a good 9500 IMHO) there's no reason to get over involved other than recapping and the like. Most are pretty good sounding units though. As a close there seems to be plenty of us in ET, more than what I thought just a short time ago!
