Pioneer VSX-406 Volume problem

I have a Pioneer VSX-406 amp. The volume will cut out after a period of time when the volume is low, sometimes on one channel, sometimes both. Increasing the volume will bring the sound back, then the volume can be readjusted to a low volume again. The longer the amp is on, the more often I need to go through this routine. I tried other speakers, same problem. I replaced the speaker wire, same problem. I replaced the volume control with a new item, but this did not resolve the problem. Anyone have a clue what the issue may be?
Thanks

Sounds like dirty switching relays, they are probably oxidized. I had a similar problem with my SA-1050 the difference is the mine uses switches on the front and your uses computer controled relays to switch inputs.
