Please Help! Fisher MC-3020 Automatic Turntable

I recently acquired a working Fisher MC-3020 Audio Component System w/ Automatic Turntable. It works accept for the fact it's spindle has a small metal insert that clicks in and out as it turns which doesn't allow for the platter to go at regular speed.

I feel the clicking has something to do with the turntables automatic capability but since I'm extremely new to vintage audio mechanics I'm pretty much in the dark as to what to do.

Please, anyone with any information or advice would greatly be appreciated!!
