Marantz reference. Love this stuff.
Wow TOM1040, some seriously nice pieces you have there !
Is the MA9S2 mono, looks like you have two there ?
Yes. MA9S2 are monoblocks. I really feel these are very good amps. I also have a pair of McIntosh MC601 monoblocks and I think the Marantz amps are much better. Seriously.
hello here!!! from mexico!!!

CD 94 Gold
A friend of mind managed to snag a CD94 champagne ( or gold ) about 8 months ago. They seem to be pretty scarce and fetch big bucks. I think he was looking for a long time and managed to get one from Brazil if I remember correctly. How is the sound quality compared to more modern CDP. They look awesome and I'd love to get me one for the collection.
Recently I did listening sessions on the new cd player, but over the 80/90 years this was the reference.
Inside Marants there is a Philips CD 960. While Marantz black or gold there is no difference...only the colours
only two defects are:
- try open close
- RCA analog on rear if u used more to test more cable connect...
My Marantz line up so far 2238B 2240B 2215B and 1040 almost full cap rest on 2215B and 1040
Just got a wood case for my 4140 to dress it up and a SQA-2 quad adapter, picked up a few SQ LPs too so im rockin all around now
On my watchlist in the future: A 2330, 2275, 2240, 2230 and a 2010.
Still have the one that gave me hifiitis:
Marantz 2245 w/ wc-22
Marantz 2235. I have a beautiful 5' long, 1" thick piece of Black Walnut in waiting
Marantz 2225 w/ wc-22 (2)
There have been many others, but I have only kept the best. (WAF)
Just picked up a Marantz 2325 J4. Does anybody know what the significance of a J4 model is (something about accepting different voltage)? Also, how rare are the J4 models and how many were made? Cheers!!
A Marantz 6200 which i love.
6300 into a 2325 (getting rebuilt)
This is a rescued 2250 b that was someones garage radio before i ended up with it, Its name is Mr Ouch, because of the bent face plate corner that was not in the sellers picture. bottom pic is before
*2235b with wood case - My dad bought new in mid 70s and I still have the original sales receipt. I wish I still had his Dual 1219 and Cerwin Vega R26. Would love to rehear some Car Stevens and Linda Ronstadt on that combo.
*2230 with wood case
*3300, 250 and 120
I included a nighttime pic, because who doesn't love the blue LED?
Beautiful 2325. I really want one of those.
There was a 2325 recently on CL for around $600. I didn't jump on it quick enough. It was gone pretty quick.
I have a nice 2230 that was recapped by our own patfont. Great sounding receiver that sounds better than new, and should stay that way for a long time.
