Preamp opinions

I have an opportunity to buy either an Acurus L10 preamp or a Sony standalone preaamp/tuner STC-7000 for the same money. Typically, the Sony has a blown mpx function but other than that looks very clean. Either would be $200. I am familiar with the Sony sound from the era having many 60x5 series receivers and some 70x5 series. Currently running bridged mono N330s amps of a nikko beta 2 preamp and I want to do better. No experience with the Acurus.

I'd buy the Acurus L10 for its simplicity and sound quality. It's also a lot newer and will likely have less problems than a Sony from 1975. The only advantage of the Sony is the nostalgic styling IMHO.
