Quad 303 power-amp

Only last night I bought myself a used good condition Quad 303 power-amplifier, an iconic British stereo power amplier made from 1967 - 1985, 45 watts into 8 ohms. I'm using this connected to a Promitheus Audio TVC passive pre-amp.

One simple word about how it sounds and its performance in my Hi-Fi system;

"Fantastic".

It is even better if you do a recap. Also check out the restoration kits from Holland

I often see Quad speakers noted by reviewers as "nirvana" or close to it. No one ever talks about new Quad gear. Is Quad still in business? I ask because I now own a Rega turntable, and want to own Harbeth speakers. Recently I auditioned Naim amps which I would buy in a heartbeat if I wasn't financially challenged. I find the longer I listen the more I like British gear. I look forward to hearing about your experience. Thank you.

I have owned a 303 and it took a lot of work to get it sounding OK to my ears. I think the design of this amp is wonderful however. The 909 era was supposed to be a pretty good one for Quad. Have also owned several Leak 30's and 70's and to be frank, I vastly prefer their sound, even unrestored.

Belated congratulations. I'd sure love to try a Quad amp on my Quad ESLs. :)

And I sure love my Promitheus TVC. What is on the other end of your 303?
