Question about mixing components

This is my first post. I will try to make it brief. My current setup is Denon DP300f turntable into a Pioneer SX-315 receiver into 2 Fluance SX-6 speakers. So the SX-315 is a 5.1 system, but I only have the 2 Fluance speakers connected. I am running the SX-315 in stereo mode. Which to my understanding makes it a 2.1 system. I currently am not running a subwoofer. Does this create any problems? I have the subwoofer that came with the pioneer receiver. Should I connect it? Does that cause any problems? Thanks.

This will not cause any problems. When in the 2.1 ch mode. The sub woofer is optional. So you can use it if you want to or leave it unhooked.

If the SX-315 allows you to set the front speaker size, choose "large" rather than "small"; otherwise it will roll off the bass going to your Fluances.
