Radio OTA vs. online

I know this has been addressed elsewhere but I need additional input. I am not an early adopter of new technology and I would prefer to listen to an analog tuner but my favorite two stations WBGO and WKCR are not accessible to me anymore. WBGO moved there antenna from Newark to MId town Manhattan and recption in Newark (their city of license) stinks.

Now the questions I have are how does streaming from the stations web site compare to listening to broadcast?

Does an AM signal sound better over the web?

I mainly listen to two AM stations that also broadcast on the web. Using a GE Superadio 3, which has a wide audio response compared to most radios, one station sounds the same as the web. The other station is much inferior on AM. It may depend on whether the station decides to send a quality signal OTA. An AM station may decide to send out a crappy signal since it knows most AM receivers are junk as far as audio quality goes.
