I'd like to get some better lighting in my MR-77 as the dial lights are very dim these days. They are working from what I can see (the bright/dim switch does make a difference). but you can't really see that there are even lights on until the room lighting is almost dark.

What bulbs do I need and are there any LED replacements/upgrades possible?

    Thanks!

Maybe reach out to Audio Classics for some help on that. They may have the bulbs you need. Or maybe even McIntosh Parts.

It seems some are burn't out. They don't just get dim. I hate to be a Luddite, but I'll bet if you just replaced all the lamps with original types, you'll get another 20 years.

Guess I'll just open it up and go from there. Was hoping someone had the info (part numbers) on what I need before I unrack it and open it up so I could just do it all at one sitting.

If you have Amazon Prime, you can order small things like these without having to pay more shipping than the amount for the bulbs, or avoid ordering enough stuff to make the shipping charges from McIntosh or Mouser, etc. appear small.

IMG_20171120_200600.jpg Sigh...the ebay bulbs do not fit. The fuse style LEDs for the dial are at least 1/8" too large to fit in the holders and the larger bulbs for the font panel have a "collar" that prevents the cardboard light blocking tube from sliding over it.
But I did see something funny inside. This tuner got a going over from Mr RM himself in 2001 and I guess he likes pineapple?

Anyone got the back story on this ???
