Really cool engine animation

Would like to see a Flathead Ford V-8, a Cadillac V-16, Gottlieb Daimler's "Patent Motorenwagen' engine from 1886....<grin>

Amazingly detailed, anyone know if that's an actual engine model or a generic mock up?

Also amazing that the piston engine is still king after more than 100 years!
What happened to our Jet Cars we were promised back in the 50's?, you know, the flying ones. :D

Rover UK?

I think the nearest was Rover in the U.K. In the 1950's they had a road going (in the sense that it was road legal) gas turbine prototype and continued with research through to the 1970's. Advantages? A very simple engine with few moving parts (`though the reduction required through the gearbox was complex); potential to run on any liquid fuel. Disadvantages? Poor fuel economy plus a hellishly high temperature, high volume and high velocity exhaust. It was the lack of mpg that effectively killed it............ Jim.
