Really stupid expressions Game

Okay, we all know that the English language is drawkcab, sideout in and down upside. (Hope nobody sprained an eyeball reading that. ) Let's have some fun with some totally messed up expressions that really don't make sense once dissected.

These 2 conversations actually took place at church one morning about 2 years ago.

Teenage girl: I caught a cold.

Me: Well, why were you chasing it?

Her:

Me: If I get sick, it's because the cold caught me and I ran my butt off trying to get away from it.

.......

Elderly man: I think I'm coming down with a cold.

Me: If the cold is going down, Why don't you go up?

Him:

At the end of the day (one of the dumbest expressions ever), Marvin is a good science teacher.

?????? So, first thing in the morning he sucks? Around the middle of the day he's mediocre? Therefore, only the last class of the day gets the full benefit of his teaching ability?

^^ Another one! "He called in sick." @ the same time, "He's out sick." Why not just say "He's sick."?

Who says he's actually sick? He just called in sick, so he's out sick ...
