This opamp rolling has me hooked. I need psychological help!
BTW Rocky, I first came accross these on ebay.au!
Why change out the op amps? Is it a removal and re-solder or is there more to it? Why different op amps on the input vs. output side?
Any one has experience with a "better" power supply ( in terms of VA rating) for CA Azur 640P?
Wallwart is only 500mill Amp , 16.6 VAC (NOT 12VAC) with my home power supply of 125VAC .Dont know if it will be different if the supply is 120V!
But if you think about it, the regulator ICs need at least 1.5-2Volt above their ratings to deliver 18.5V constantly. So for regulators designed for 18.5 Volt the supply should be about 20-21VDC at least(in my limited knowldge). The bridge rectifier inside is increasing the voltage to 22VDC(16 X 1.41) .
So I doubt the rating of 12VAC for the wallwart is misleading or a mistake from the manufacturer.
Awaiting your suggestions.....
The 12volt AC rating of the wallwart would be under load, that's why you get over 16volts with no load.
500ma's is a lot for a preamp it would be interesting to measure the total current draw for the 640P I would guess it would be less than 100ma total.
Now I get no sound whatsoever. Nothing nada , zilch! No even a hum or noise. Any ideas? R34 and R42 looked a tad crispy so I replaced those. Still nothing! This is so frustrating after the hrs and $$ put into this.
