Refoaming Yamaha NS-690III and The New Advent woofer

I am a newbie.

Both speaker woofers have blown foam.

Where can I get some good quality refoaming kits? I have heard of Decware.com and others but never tried it before.

I also heard from one guy that refoaming yourself is not professional enough and that it could damage due to misalignments and stuff. Is this true?

Refoaming speakers is not a difficult task. One of the most important skills to have to master the job is patience. Do a google search for "speaker foam" and you will find all the info that you will need. Read all the instructions and follow them. Don't take shortcuts. And beware of the "slipping screwdriver" as you are removing and installing those drivers. Many of us have been biten by that one.

PS - I don't see any voice coil shims in the OCS kits? Maybe cut up some microfilms into 1/2"x4" strips and use 3 - 5 of them to center the coil!!
