Relatives of the Sonic Impact T-Amp

Here's the 41Hz Audio Amp 6 in test mode (It's the almost invisible circuit board on the bottm shelf of the equipment rack. I just completed it today and it sounds amazingly good - quite a bit better, even in its stock mode, than the Sonic Impact. It's $39 plus $11 shipping from http://www.41hz.com/

I completed the Amp 6 last night using a 15 volt, 50VA toroid transformer from Digikey, Zen coupling caps from Northcreek Music, and all the other parts from Parts Express. At first it sounded a bit bright and lacked dimensionality, but those characteristics have disappeared with some break in time. In fact, I was comparing it to a Parasound HCA-1000A Ss amp and a pair of Bottlehead Paramour 2A3 tube SET amps this morning and found the sound of the Amp 6 is somewhere in between the other two. I'm very happy with the sound of this little amp.

That's a neat construction there Fred. What was your total cost to build it?

Total cost is about $100. The amp kit and the toroidal transformer account for about half, the rest is in the case, bottom cover, RCA's, speaker connectors, IEC, switch, and upgrade coupling caps.

No, the board is so small that I prefer to make as few changes as possible after all the soldering is done.
