By the way, I am very happy with my Yamaha WXC-50 for all my digital audio needs. It has an ESS DAC and is compatible with almost all new formats including FLAC.

How do you rate the DAC in it, can you compare it to anything else you've tried?
Have you tried the airplay functionality (and if so is it all smooth / good)?

Curious if airplaying to it mates the iTunes / iPhone volume to the digital volume control in the unit.

Thanks. How does the ESS(DAC) in WXC-50 rack up against others? For that you can search on the web; I have only read good things about it. More importantly, it sounds good and clear to my ears.
I needed something to play newer formats on my system as well as have the convenience of Airplay, Bluetooth etc. Airplay is smooth. You can control the volume during Airplay with your iOS device or directly
on the unit (volume knob as well as the remote). I would recommend hard-wiring the unit over Ethernet for smooth Airplay or Internet radio play.
