Five screws on the bottom, correct? Do the feet need to come off, too?
I'll wait a bit before I start.....
 
I think it's the screws with the big square "washers", feet stay on. Be careful not to snag stuff inside.

Actually, this is one of avionic's old projects, but I've had a couple of these apart on my own workbench--great sounding amp! It's a real pain, however, to remove some of the shields behind the faceplate to get at cleaning some of the controls.

I was going to say...Hey! that looks like the carpet on my bench.My heathkit VTVM as well...Actually that is "AK member bohhey's " 1000.

I only got as far as removing the covers before I gave up. Can't even get fader lube into the thing without serious screw-up opportunities.
