Saw her last night at the Fox Theater in Detroit. My wife and I are fans of her music, and I bought my wife tickets to the show for a Mothers Day gift.
It was a good, not great, show. Diana and band were in good form, played well together, and sounded tight. But, I'll be damned if she and band came on at 9:00 and exited by about 10:15 or so. For $70 per ticket, I guess I expected more.
She played a number of cuts from her "Girl in the Other Room" CD, which I enjoy. But she almost ignored the two previous albums entirely.
I must say I was particularly taken with the opening act: a band called Ollabelle. This is a group whose music is produced by T-Bone Burnett, and is an appealing mix of folk, blues, and country-rock. If you have a chance, check them out.
All in all, a decent, but not outstanding, night on the town.
