Shortly before he passed James Baker visited and the president brightened up at the sight of his old friend and asked, "Hi Bay, where're we going?" James Baker replied, "Heaven, George."

I'm glad I had the day to watch the coverage. A very moving service.

    Godspeed Sir.

I too thought the service was dignified and moving and reflected his lifelong service to his country. To Honor GHWB, I am flying these Civil War flags this week:
[IMG]The 20th Maine Regiment and the Texas Volunteers, as he had residences in both states. [IMG]

For me, the most remembered part of the service will be when former Sen. Alan Simpson said:

"He never lost his sense of humor. Humor is the universal solvent against the abrasive elements of life, Bush, said Simpson, never hated anyone. He knew what his mother and my mother always knew: hatred corrodes the container it's carried in."

As a former airborne guy I loved it when 41 went
skydiving at 90! Ok, not static-line but way more fun.

    Blue Skies sir.

The train trip is on fox as we speak, no one else here is covering it...there is a second horse and what looks like a hotel power car, then all these domes....UP dropped service decades ago, where the heck were these stored? each looks mint

    RIP President Bush.

In WWII he trained as a pilot on the same ship my grandfather served on. USS Sable.

That's a great quote. He had a good sense of humor. Instead being offended when Dana Carvey impersonated him on SNL he reached out to him and they became friends.

Being retired I was able to watch all the memorial services.
I hope the young people of today were able to see some of the coverage.
They could learn a lot from what was said about GHWB.
I think his closest friends are really going to miss him. A lot. To say nothing of his family.
RIP sir, your job is done.

    I was in the cathedral.

Even though I was working, it was hard not to get choked up.

Bush was a man who has been praised for being a decent human being. What have we become?
