I picked up a pair of these at the thrift for $10 today. Never had a pair of Infinity's and I'm not generally thrilled by 2-way bookshelves, but they seemed to be in decent shape. They need new surrounds, of course...

What's the best way to clean the cones, and which glue should I use? I've refoamed enough speakers to know what I'm doing, but never any with the poly cones.

Do I put a little money into new surrounds for these? What can I expect to hear when I'm done? I'm trying to figure out if they're worth the $$ and the effort.

Good question about the adhesive, I have 2 pairs of them, surround sound in the living room, and teenage son's room. Good enough to listen to movies and TV, but, I can't listen to music up there anyhow. The Polycells tweeters are pretty nice, and maybe coupling them with a sub in a small area could give good results. For what you have into them, it's worth some experimenting.
