Running 4,8ohm speakers on a Fisher 400

My Fisher 400 is currently connected to a pair of XP 10 speakers. I also have a pair of KLH sixes I,d like to connect up to see what they sound like paired. I know that the 400 can handle 4 ohm loads if the wires are switched in back. So, if I connect the XP 10s to the sixes by connecting + to + and - to -, and then connect the sixes normally to the two speaker inputs on the 400, will that be a good parallel connection producing 4 ohms?

Connecting a 4Ω and 8Ω speaker in parallel represents a 2.67Ω load to the amplifier/receiver it is connected to. You will definitely want to set the 400 up for 4Ω operation. It should handle the lower impedance load just fine -- particularly if it is a higher serial number unit (>48000).

Good luck with it!

I think both speakers are 8 ohms. I really wanted to know if the way I described connecting them will work as a parallel connection

Yep, and it will be a 4Ω load. I mistook the title of your thread to mean a 4Ω and 8Ω speaker in each channel.....
